Preservation is defined in the Parks Canada Standards and Guidelines for the conservation of Historic Places in Canada as the protection of the integrity of a historic place or individual component. This involves the maintaining and stabilizing of the existing form, materials and situation, to protect its heritage value.

Led by Robert Hirano, RKH Architecture has a complete understanding of the intent and goals set out by Parks Canada standards. Through his advisory role in the review of the Guidelines prior to their adoption RKH Architecture is able to steward the maximum respect by the project for the preservation of the historic fabric.
